Baritone Alex is co-founder, trustee and Managing Director of Toi Toi Opera, and is the company’s chief bean-counter.

When not up on the stage, or up to his elbows in business development on behalf of Toi Toi Opera, you’ll probably find Alex at Deloitte, where he is Director - Tax.

Soprano Katherine is co-founder, trustee and Operations Director of Toi Toi Opera, and is the person responsible for the delivery of the company’s programme of work. Currently she is also interim Artistic Director overseeing the shape and focus of the company’s seasons.

When not singing for her supper, or helping to teach the next generation how to do so for theirs, Katherine is National Archivist of Te Hāhi Weteriana o Aotearoa - The Methodist Church of New Zealand.

Baritone Julian is trustee of Toi Toi Toi opera, and a freelance actor, singer, and director based in Christchurch.

As Toi Toi Opera’s Head of Drama, Julian is responsible for the overarching design and shape of the company’s productions, and for helping to maintain the high level of dramatic integrity, ingenuity, imagination, and continuity that the company has become known for.

Mezzo-soprano Raemon is a trustee of Toi Toi Opera, and former committee member of the Dame Malvina Major Foundation in Christchurch, and has spent the better part of her life involved in singing, mostly in opera in Canterbury.

These days if not up on stage, you’ll find Raemon occupied as Toi Toi Opera’s Wardrobe Mistress, ensuring our singers look as fabulous as they sound.

Ōtautahi-born Matthew holds post graduate degrees from the New Zealand School of Music - Te Kōkī in performance piano, chamber music, and musicology. Having recently returned home to Aotearoa NZ from Los Angeles, he is currently based in Christchurch, where he works as a pianist, répétiteur, and accompanist, and also as a classroom teacher.

As Principal Répétiteur for Toi Toi Opera, Matthew is responsible for the effective deployment of the company’s répétiteur team across each season’s productions.

Born in Hong Kong and raised in Christchurch, Cheuky is currently based in Essex, UK, where she is active as a freelance accompanist, teacher, and répétiteur.

A performance piano graduate of the University of Canterbury, Cheuky is a former Freemasons Dame Malvina Major New Zealand Opera Emerging Artist répétiteur, a former New Zealand Opera School répétiteur, and her postgraduate study and work in music has taken her to Germany, Wales, and the United States.

South African born Anria is a freelance pianist, répétiteur, accompanist, and a private piano and music theory teacher based in Christchurch.

Anria joined Toi Toi Opera in 2025 on a contract basis as cover répétiteur, and having worked on several of the company’s 2025 and 2026 season productions, she was invited to join the permanent répétiteur staff in August 2026.

Tenor Patrick Power ONZM, has had a distinguished international career as an opera singer and voice teacher.

Patrick was appointed an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit in 2003 for his services to opera both in New Zealand and internationally.
