Escape into a world of enchantment, suspense, & the sweetest revenge this December at The Piano!

Toi Toi Opera brings Engelbert Humperdinck’s beloved fairytale opera Hansel and Gretel to vibrant life in a spectacular new production just in time for Christmas. Follow brave siblings Hansel and Gretel as they journey into a mysterious forest, come face to face with a magical Sandman who sprinkles sweet dreams, and outsmart a hilariously wicked Witch in her mouth-watering gingerbread house!

Sumptuous staging, luscious music, and a thrilling dash of theatrical magic make this the perfect first opera for young children, and a heartwarming festive treat for parents and grandparents alike. Sung in English, and filled with unforgettable melodies - including the moving ‘Evening Prayer’ - this spellbinding new production is directed by Julian Anderson, with musical direction by Matthew Oswin, and features an exquisite all South Island cast, chorus, musical, and creative team.

Brought to you with the very generous support of the Christchurch City Council’s Strengthening Communities Fund.
