Tamzin Roe - Keening Woman

After performing as the youngest child (Gretel) in The Sound of Music at age 4.5 in Otago before later moving to Christchurch, it wasn't that much of a surprise that music and drama would be a factor in Tamzin’s life. 

As a teenager it was clear that she had a powerful Contralto voice, participating in various productions. After a large post-school gap from singing of any sort, a few years ago in 2018 she commenced learning Classical Voice with Margot Button.

Participating in joint and solo recitals, Toi Toi Opera chorus work, plus front of house and wardrobe, NZ Opera Adult Community Chorus (for Monsters in the Maze September 2025),  chorus work with CSO Chorus annually since 2019 (inaugural member), and being a guest chorus member with Christchurch City Choir various dates since 2019.  She has also enjoyed furthering her music studies with two NZ Voice Programme Summer School weeks in January 2024 and 2025 with tutors Catrin Johnsson and Rachel Fuller. 

This is Tamzin's third appearance with Toi Toi Opera, having performed in the Off Centre Festival at the Arts Centre in March 2023 and in Serenade to Music Toi Toi Opera’s 6th Birthday Celebration in August 2025.
