Louisa Pilkington - First Keening Woman
Mezzo Louisa is a past member of the Canterbury Opera chorus and has sung as both chorister and soloist with CBS Music, Jubilate Singers, Cantores, the Christchurch City Choir and the Nelson Civic Choir.
She includes in her repertoire many sacred works, most significantly Handel’s Messiah, J. S. Bach’s St. John Passion, Mass in B Minor, and Magnificat.
Canterbury Opera performances include Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro, Bizet’s Pearl Fishers, Puccini’s La Bohème, Phillip Norman’s A Christmas Carol, Gounod’s Faust, and Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin.
She is also a member of the New Zealand Opera Chorus, appearing in their recent seasons of Le comte Ory and La bohème in Christchurch.
With Toi Toi Opera she sang Mistress of the Novices in their inaugural production Suor Angelica & Elegies (2021), and as part of the cast of Serenade to Music (2025) their 6th birthday celebration concert.
Louisa is also covering the role of Maurya.
