Holly Evans - Soprano Soloist

Soprano Holly was born in Christchurch, New Zealand.

Following numerous years of classical voice training, she performed as a soprano with the 2017-2018 New Zealand Secondary Student’s Choir cycle. In 2018, Holly undertook the lead role of Maria in Bernstein’s West Side Story.

She began her formal studies in 2019 at the University of Canterbury, and in 2020, performed the role of Galatea in Handel’s Acis and Galetea for the university. She has since completed her Bachelor's degrees in Music, majoring in voice, and Commerce, majoring in management, at the University of Canterbury, and performed as a member of the New Zealand Opera Chorus in both Christchurch and Auckland. In 2024 she was awarded First Class Honours, after completing her Honours Degree at the University of Auckland.

In 2024 she made her orchestral debut with the Auckland Philarmonia Orchestra as part of their Community Classics Concert. In 2025, Holly was a finalist in the North Shore Beacroft Aria Finals, and in July completed her Master of Music at the University of Auckland.

Riders to the Sea is her first performance for Toi Toi Opera.

Holly hopes to move abroad in 2026 to embark on the next stage of her career.
