Breony Bearman developed a lifelong passion for the performing arts through Ballet, Speech and Drama, and Music Theatre. She completed her Master of Music at the University of Waikato in 2024, the same year she placed second in the Napier Aria Competition and won both the prestigious Becroft Aria and the Lockwood NZ Aria. In 2025, she won the Nicholas Tarling Competition and was a finalist in the international Elizabeth Connell Prize for dramatic female voices.

Breony’s performance credits include Dido in Dido and Aeneas with the Waikato Conservatorium of Music, Vitellia in La clemenza di Tito with the Croatian Opera Academy, soprano soloist in Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony with the Kāpiti Concert Orchestra, the title role in Ariadne auf Naxos with Dramatic Voices Berlin, and the Vier Letzte Lieder with NZtrio. She also understudied Floria Tosca for Wellington Opera's season of Tosca.
